CASE STUDY
Reconciling a data migration with Bragi
How Bragi facilitated a data migration for a private bank, helping the bank achieve a smooth transition to its modern cloud platform.
Trusted for regulated and high‑stakes data:

Modernising a 200-year-old private bank
This project focused on verifying a major migration from a legacy banking platform into a modern cloud-based system. A third-party vendor handled the actual data transfer; Bragi’s job was to independently reconcile what landed.
Source: Legacy core banking platform
Destination: New cloud-based banking platform
Bragi in the middle:
-
Extracts data from both systems
-
Applies the same transformation logic
-
Reconciles key entities and balances
-
Produces audit-ready reports and exception lists
About the client
A private bank with more than 200 years’ heritage, providing bespoke banking and investment services to high-net-worth individuals, families, and trusts. Operating under Guernsey’s regulatory framework, the bank offers deposit accounts, lending, credit, FX, and comprehensive investment and asset management services.
The challenge
The bank needed to migrate from a legacy banking platform to a modern cloud-based platform, involving extensive transformation rules and data mappings.
Bragi’s role was to verify and reconcile the data once it had been migrated.
This independent validation step had to:
-
Ensure data integrity and completeness for every cycle
-
Prove robustness to satisfy the regulator
-
Fit within tight migration windows
-
Allow business owners (not just IT) to maintain mappings and transformations
Implementation with Bragi
Bragi automated the reconciliation between the legacy platform and the new cloud system.
Each migration cycle was checked end‑to‑end, with discrepancies surfaced as exceptions instead of hidden in spreadsheets, turning validation into a fast, repeatable process.
